Flowers and machines make friends in Kelly Newcomer's colorful, painterly artworks. Her work is influenced by science fiction and the writings of Donna Haraway, “Technology is not neutral. We’re inside of what we make, and it’s inside of us. We’re living in a world of connections — and it matters which ones get made and unmade.” (The Cyborg Manifesto, 1984). Kelly Newcomer has exhibited widely including Seattle's Center on Contemporary Art, Roswell Artist in Residence and Berlin Pictoplasma installation at Zentralbuero. She also licenses her work as a commercial illustrator for clients such as, Siemens, Die Gestalten Verlag, and others.
